Dua on the day of Arafat

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: ‘The best supplication is the supplication on the day of Arafat’.
[at-Tirmidhi and Malik]

The day of Arafat is the essence and pinnacle of Hajj. On this great and momentous day, millions of worshippers gather together on one plain, from every corner of the world, with only one purpose in mind – to respone to the call of their Creator. During this auspicious day, Allah does not refuse the requests of His worshippers.

Rulings Of (Udhiyah) Sacrifice

1378705_385718031531064_385828002_n
Udhiyah refers to the animal (camel, cattle or sheep) that is sacrificed as an act of worship to Allaah, in the country in which the person offering the sacrifice lives, during the period from after the Eid prayer on the Day of Nahr (Eid al-Adhaa) until the last of the Days of Tashreeq (the 13 th day of Dhu’l-Hijjah), with the intention of offering sacrifice. Udhiyah is one of the great rituals of Islam, in which we remember the Unity of Allaah, His blessings upon us and the obedience of our father Ibraaheem to his Lord, and in this act of udhiyah there is much goodness and blessing. So the Muslim must pay attention to its great importance. This book is a brief look at this important ritual.

Invocation to be recited on the day of arafat

1381365_386311711471696_1611449337_nNot everyone can go on Hajj, and certainly not every year, but this Day of Arafa is one of the great gifts of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) that people all over the world can benefit from. On this day, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) grants fasting Muslims forgiveness for their faults of two years, if they have committed any, if not, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) elevates their degree in Paradise. The Muslims should celebrate the day of Arafa by restraining themselves from committing sins and iniquities in order that Allah may forgive them.

The Prophet of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “On this day (of Arafa) whomsoever holds his hearing, sight, and tongue (from committing sins), he will be forgiven by Allah.” [Ahmad] Muslims should say the Tahlil (La ilaha il Allah), Tasbeeh (Subhanallah) and Takbeer (Allahu Akbar). It is also recommended to do as much dua (supplication) as possible on this day, since “there is no other day on which Allah frees a larger number of His slaves from the Fire of Hell than the Day of Arafah.” [Sahih Muslim]

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The best supplication is on the day of Arafa, and the best remembrance that I and the prophets before me (made) is: “There is no god but Allah, the only true God, who has no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom (of the universe) and to Him all praises are due. And He has the power to do every thing.” [Tirmidhi]

Actions that Carry the Reward of Ḥajj

1391452_10151623754931104_1855868595_nActions that Carry the Reward of Ḥajj

Nothing of course can equal actually performing the Ḥajj and worshipping Allah in those blessed places. Allah knows that many people long to make Ḥajj every year but are unable to do so. Out of His generosity, He made the reward for certain actions similar to the reward of a supererogatory Hajj. Read the rest of this entry

Islamic Method of Slaughtering

47485_10151472238839867_1765892260_nQuestion: Why do Muslims slaughter the animal in a ruthless manner by torturing it and slowly and painfully killing it?

Answer:

The Islamic method of slaughtering animals, known as Zabiha has been the object of much criticism from a large number of people. Before I reply to the question, let me relate an incidence about a discussion between a Sikh and a Muslim regarding animal slaughter.

Once a Sikh asked a Muslim, “Why do you slaughter the animal painfully by cutting the throat instead of the way we do with one stroke i.e. jhatka?”

The Muslim replied “We are brave and courageous and attack from the front. We are mard ka baccha (macho men), you are cowards and attack from behind”. Jokes apart, one may consider the following points, which prove that the Zabiha method is not only humane but also scientifically the best: 1. Islamic method of slaughtering animal Zakkaytum is a verb derived from the root word Zakaah (to purify). Its infinitive is Tazkiyah which means purification. The Islamic mode of slaughtering an animal requires the following conditions to be met: Read the rest of this entry

And before the blood falling on the ground it has status near Allah. You should do this qurbani happily.’

Don’t delay hajj (Pilgrimage)

1385916_10151639996085754_1973982904_n

Why would one delay the prospect of performing a Hajj mabroor, the accepted Hajj, the reward of which is nothing less than the gardens of paradise?

This is your chance to have all of your sins forgiven as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever performs Hajj to this house – Ka’bah- and does not commit any obscenity and wrongdoing, he, or she, will come out as the day he, or she, was born – pure and free from sins.”

From another perspective the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is reported to have said: “Hurry to perform Hajj, as none of you knows what may happen to him.” It is as if the Prophet is telling us to think about the matter in a rational way. If someone who has the ability to perform the Hajj delays it; do they not fear that death may catch them up and they then meet Allah with no Hajj to their account?

The reality is that many do delay Hajj until it’s too late. As the years pass by some of them fall sick with debilitating conditions, others become financially stricken and so the great opportunity is lost.

Can you afford to take this risk?

Malcolm X’s Letter from Mecca

malcolmx01-islampeace1.wordpress.com-9658

Many Muslims who have been blessed to make Hajj often speak of how the journey is a life-changing experience. This is more the case for some than others.
Malcolm X, or Al-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, is one Muslim who saw the light of true Islam through his Hajj in April 1964.  As a former member and speaker for the Nation of Islam, a black spiritual and nationalist movement, he believed that the white man was the devil and the black man superior.
After leaving the Nation of Islam in March 1964, he made Hajj, which helped change his perspective on whites and racism completely.
Here is an excerpt of a letter El Hajj Malik El Shabazz wrote a letter to his loyal assistants in Harlem… from his heart, telling them of his experience.  In it, he explains what it was during this blessed journey that made him so profoundly shift his perspective on race and racism.  We should keep in mind that this letter was written in a time when the history of African Americans in America was in making, a time when centuries worth of oppression was being spoken about and condemned in public.[1]

“Never have I witnessed such sincere hospitality and overwhelming spirit of true brotherhood as is practiced by people of all colors and races here in this ancient Holy Land, the home of Abraham, Muhammad and all the other Prophets of the Holy Scriptures.  For the past week, I have been utterly speechless and spellbound by the graciousness I see displayed all around me by people of all colors.

Complete Description of Hajj (Pilgrimage)

DESCRIPTION OF HAJJ (PILGRIMAGE).

Hajj is one of the best acts of worship. It is one of the pillars of Islam with which Allaah sent Muhammad and without which a person’s religious commitment is incomplete. Worship cannot bring a person closer to Allaah and cannot be accepted unless it meets two conditions:

1) Sincerity towards Allaah alone, i.e., it is done to seek the Countenance of Allaah and the Hereafter, and is not done to show off, to enhance one’s reputation or for worldly gain.

2) Following the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in word and deed. Following the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) can only be achieving by knowing his Sunnah.

Hence the one who wants to worship Allaah by doing any act of worship – Hajj or anything else – has to learn the teachings of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) concerning it, so that his actions will be in accordance with the Sunnah.

WHAT EVERY MUSLIM SHOULD PACK FOR HAJJ?

In sha’ALLAH, many of us may be leaving for Hajj over the coming days and we thought we would share with you some travel tips on what to pack for Hajj which you can share with any friends or family members who are going for Hajj this year (or in future years in sha’ALLAH).

This is not an exhaustive list, mainly the important items that one should not forget:

Extra Ihram Clothes (Male): It’s surprising how many men forget to bring extra Ihram clothes, thinking that they can survive with one Ihram for the entire Hajj period. I highly recommend for you to bring two or three Ihram clothes just in case they get dirty/muddy during Hajj for various reasons.
