the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah
Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta ‘ala) said:
By the dawn; by the ten nights
Al-Fajr 89: 1-2
Prophet Muhammad (Salla-Allahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) said:
“There are no days that are dearer to Allah in respect of devoting oneself to devotion and worship than the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” He is also reported to have said, “Fasting on the day of `Arafah expiates sins of two years, the past and future.”
Muslim
The Prophet Muhammad (Salla-Allahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) said:
“There are no days greater in the sight of Allah and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so during this time recite a great deal of tahlil (Laa Ilaaha ill-Allah), Takbir (Allahu Akbar) and Tahmid (Alhamdulillah).”
Ahmad.
THE TAKBIR IS AS FOLLOWS:
“ALLAH AKBAR, ALLAHU AKBAR, LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAH, ALLAHU AKBAR, WA LILLAAH IL-HAMD”
(Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, there is no god but Allah; Allah is Most Great and to Allah be praise).
Narrated Ibn Abbas (radiyAllahu anhu): The Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam)said, “No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of dhul hijja).” Then some companions of the Prophet said, “Not even Jihad?” He replied, “Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah’s sake) and does not return with any of those things.” (Book #15, Hadith #86) sahih Bukhari.
Dhul hijja will in sha Allah start on either 6th or 7th of October (depending on the sighting of the new moon).
