Beautiful recitation by Imam Mustafa Graf of Didsbury mosque on the birth of Jesus (upon whom be peace).

Beautiful recitation by Imam Mustafa Graf of Didsbury mosque on the birth of Jesus (upon whom be peace).

Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, “Be,” and he was.

(Qur’an – 3:59)

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, “Three”; desist – it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

(Qur’an – 4:171)

Depression — results of not abiding by faith

But if anyone turns away from My reminder, his life will be a dark and narrow one…” (Qur’an, 20:124)
“When Allah desires to guide someone, He expands his breast to Islam. When He desires to misguide someone, He makes his breast narrow and constricted as if he were climbing up into the sky. That is how Allah defiles those who have no faith.” (Qur’an, 6:125)
The failure of irreligious people in submitting themselves to Allah causes them to be in a constant state of ill ease, anxiety and stress. As a consequence, they are afflicted by various psychological illnesses, which reveal themselves in their physical selves. Their bodies wear down more quickly, and they age rapidly and degenerate.
As a result of physical or psychological stress, the individual’s adrenal gland (the gland above each kidney) secretes large amounts of glucocorticoid hormones. These hormones increase the energy level of muscles, and temporarily halt such activities as growth, which are inessential at that moment. In cases of extreme physical and chronic psychological stress these hormones, which are otherwise of vital importance, can give rise to stress related disorders, such as high blood pressure, obesity, bone erosion and stomach ulcers.
However, since believers are psychologically healthy, they do not fall prey to stress, or despondence, and their bodies are ever fit and healthy. Read the rest of this entry

Terrorism and Islam

The Holy Prophet Muhammadﷺ was very soft hearted. Syedna Anas bin Malik (r.a.) reported that he served the Prophet Muhammadﷺ for 10 years but the Prophet Muhammadﷺ never raised his voice at him!

The same Beloved Prophet Muhammadﷺ has used very harsh words against the Khawarij (Taliban, IS, Al Qaida Terrorists). He called them dogs of hell and commanded the believers to eliminate them. Heﷺ said that if you meet them kill them and you will get reward from ALLAH on the Day of Judgement for this act.

When you see how the khwarij dogs kill innocent people specially how they yesterday killed more than 100 children in a school, then you can totally understand why the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used such words against these khawarij.

– Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri

May God help us.

In Russia the rebel movement of Shamil Basayev was responsible for the killing of 350 people in the Beslan school siege. Most of them were children. In Nigeria Boko Haram kidnapped 276 young girls from a school in Borno State. In Yemen Al-Qaeda blew up a school in the city of Reda in which 20 children were killed. And just now, the Pakistani Taliban massacred 141 students in a school in Peshawar.

After all this there still remains amongst us people who consider these criminal khawarij to be ‘mujahidin!’

May God guide us & guide through us, lift the veil from our sight and return us to Islam in a beautiful return.

Praise Allah(Swt) first:

Fadala ibn ‘Ubayd said, “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, heard a man making supplication in his prayer without glorifying Allah Almighty or praying for blessing on the Prophet. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘This one was in a hurry.’ Then he called him and said to him – or to someone else – “When one of you prays, he should begin by glorifying his Lord, glory be to Him! and praising Him, and then pray for blessing on the Prophet. Then he should ask for anything else he wants afterwards.'”[Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi]

The Best of Supplication:

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘The best of supplications is the supplication on the day of ‘Arafah and the best which I and the Prophets before me have said: “Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer” ‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs all praise and sovereignty and He is over all things omnipotent.’ [Authenticated by Sheikh al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him)]✍✔

Islam is portrayed as a religion of terror

10850173_900926109926419_4126399044676918482_n

Islam is portrayed as a religion of terror. This is the reason behind this dislike. They call it Islamophobia but actually this is terror-phobia; people are afraid of terror. ‘You are talking about a system of terror and you are presenting it as if it is Islam. You have named terror as Islam’. Actually there is compassion, mercy, love, arts, aesthetics, science, beauty and everything beautiful in Islam.

No movement without His Will!

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim!

No movement without His (Almighty Allah’s) Will!

Everything (is) reaching to Allah… Everyone (is) reaching to Allah (and) everything (is) reaching to Allah. Allah, He knows everything, where it is, He knows everyone where he is! We have a saying- old people they were saying and we were believing and also now we are believing, never changing that belief- that if (there is) no permission to move anything from its place or to change its position, (it) can’t be without His Order or (there) can’t be any movement out of His Will. Everything must be with His Will! A leaf on a tree- as old people were believing- can’t move, if its Creator, its Lord (is) not giving permission to move, or: no any bird can open its wings for flying without His permission- can’t open, can’t fly. Everything (is) under such a perfect control!

And He (Almighty) is asking that people must know this! Not to say: “I may go, I may come, I may do, I may not do”, no, everything (is) just controlled! Leave the Children of Adam- but (even) every atom can’t change its position without His Command, without His Permission. (It is) asking: “I am changing my position, oh my Lord?” its desire and (the) divine Will (are) coming (together) and (that is) making its position in another way. And that one, that atom, by itself it is impossible (for it) to ask for a changing of its position. That feeling to ask must be granted to that one. If Allah Almighty is not giving that inspiration to that atom to ask, it is impossible by itself to ask a changing for its position. Allahu Akbar! That (one) must ask and Allah must give.

What Saves from Sins?

A bedouin asked the Messenger of ALLAH (SâllAllâhu ‘Alâihi Wâsâllâm):
“What will save me from sins?”
The Messenger of ALLAH (SâllAllâhu ‘Alâihi Wâsâllâm) replied:
“Tears, humility and illness.”
[Related by Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal]

We hardly find anyone sinning while they’re busy crying (in repentance or otherwise).

Humility keeps one from sinning because most sins are committed out of arrogance. Others’ rights are trampled on because of our over-estimation of
our own worth. And our sins against ALLAH (Subhânâhu Wâ Ta‘âlâ) also
reflect an over-estimation of our intelligence.

We tend to look down upon illness.
We see it as an unnecessary waste of our lives.
But it may well be the blessing of ALLAH (Subhânâhu Wâ Ta‘âlâ).
If it is restraining us from sinning it is a blessing indeed.

“By the mercy of Almighty God, Allah, and the hard work of the Muslim brothers and sisters of the North, the groundbreaking and pillings for the first Masjid of the Northeast Canadian Province of Nunavut has been completed, al Hamdulillah. Official permission for the masjid has been obtained and the local elders and authorities have given their blessings. The site will be covered till the snow comes off in June but this foundation will enable us to build the Islamic Center of Iqaluit in the land of the Innuit people (wrongly called Eskimos) for the first time. May Allah empower the Innuit people through Islam and bring into them into the Ummah in crowds.

You can still be a part of the project by sending our donations to:http://www.iqaluitmasjid.com.

All are welcome to the Arctic “in the summer” to our opening ceremony, Insha Allah. The Light of Allah will never be extinguished! “Nurun ‘ala Nur (Light upon light) will shine forever even though those who reject God despise it, Al Hamdulillah!!!”

The Modern Islamic Home: Aspects and Principles

We live in a world where our sphere of concern is greater than it has ever been, encompassing the entire globe fueled due to the advent of international news and the Internet.  Meanwhile our sphere of influence has been ever shrinking due to the larger number of people cohabiting the world simultaneously and a loss of sense of community in many parts of the world with even the family unit breaking under a variety of stresses and pressures.  Yet, despite our inability to influence the world, the state, the community or even our families, we generally still have a living environment which we have complete control over.

The environment we live in might be extremely polluted with un-Islamic people, culture, norms, forbidden activities and indulgences widespread.  But the environment we spend those hours eating, sleeping and spending our idle time is of utmost importance simply because we do have the ability to control it.  Our homes are a critical part of our life and the idiom “home is where the heart is” shows the great role it plays in our life, yet, more importantly, we should be aiming to draw near Allah  Allah Subhanahu-wa-Taala . We should transform our homes so that remembering Allah  Allah Subhanahu-wa-Taala is where our heart is, ultimately experiencing true peace and contentment.

What is an Islamic home?  Can the modern home be Islamic?  The answers to these questions must be derived from pearls of wisdom of the of our beloved Muhammad SAW .  Nearly all Islamic principles apply to the home given it is a place we spend so much of our time in; and should be our place of , , grounding, peace of mind and recovery.

Attending to Neighborly Needs

Neighbors not only deserve kindness but they have many rights to it.  One should bear in mind remembering their neighbors when considering their home.  A successful and positive community comes about when neighbors attend to each others rights which could ultimately change the environment of the whole area.  There are many rights afforded to neighbors which make Islamic building codes, and etiquette to neighbors when cooking or after having purchased fruit.

Narrated MALE radi-allahu-anhu : The Messenger of Allah SAW said: “The neighbor of a home has more right to the home.” – Tirmidhi.

The rights are actually so great that they are stressed in the Sunnah.

Mujahid MALE radi-allahu-anhu narrated: “Abdullah bin Amr had a sheep slaughtered for his family, so when he came he said: ‘Have you given some to our neighbor, the Jew? Have you given some to our neighbor, the Jew? I heard the Messenger of Allah SAW saying: ‘Jibril continued to advise me about (treating) the neighbors so (kindly and politely), that I thought he would order me (from Allah) to make them heirs.” -Tirmidhi.

The book Leadership Lessons from the Life of Rasoolullah: Proven Techniques of How to Succeed in Today’s World by Shaykh  goes on to list these rights in detail which the Messenger of Allah SAW  narrated to the Sahaba, which we should bear in mind to maintain such honorable and noble tradition even as hard as it can be, in our modern style communities:

1. Assist him when he asks for assistance.

2. Give him a loan if he needs it.

3. Help him if he is needy.

4. Visit him when he is ill.

5. Accompany his funeral when he dies.

6. Congratulate him on happy occasions.

7. Console him in adversity.

8. Do not build your house higher than his without his permission lest his ventilation is obstructed.

9. If you buy fruits, send some for him as a present. If you cannot do so, take the fruit into your house concealed so that he cannot see it. Don’t allow your children to take it out and eat openly in case his children see it and become grieved.

10. Don’t let the smoke from your house get into his house causing him annoyance.
