Allaah has set out several rulings concerning Eid, including the following:

1) Pray Salat ul Eid.
Both men & woman along with children should try to attend the Eid prayers
2) You should eat an odd number of dates before leaving for the Eid prayer.
3) You should wear your best clothes. Apply perfume.
4) Do Ghusl for the Eid prayer
5) Have breakfast on Eid-ul-Fitr before leaving for prayer ground.
6) If u come to the Eid prayer-place before the imam comes, he should sit down and not pray two rak’ahs.
7) Eid al-Fitr i.e. Zakaat al-Fitr before the Eid prayer.
8) Offer Salat-al-Eid in congregation in an open place except when weather is not permitting like rain, snow, etc.
9) Use two separate routes to and from the prayer ground.
10) Recite takbeer during the night of Eid from sunset on the last day of Ramadaan until the imam comes to lead the prayer. The format of the takbeer is as follows:

Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaahi’l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god except Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, and all praise be to Allaah).

Or you can say Allaahu akbar three times, so you say:

Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaahi’l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god except Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, and all praise be to Allaah).

Both are permissible.

May Allah increase our knowledge and make us firm on Truth.
