Iftar, The Breaking of Fast, Time

970269_524437637610424_1228993598_n (1)Narrated Ibn Abi Aufa: We were in the company of Allah’s Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) on a journey. He said to a man:
Get down and mix Sawiq (powdered barley) with water for me.
The man said: The sun (has not set yet), O Allah’s Messenger
……..The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said to him: Get down and mix Sawiq with water for me. The man dismounted and mixed Sawiq with water for him. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) drank it and then beckoned with his hand (towards the East) and said:

إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ اللَّيْلَ أَقْبَلَ مِنْ هَا هُنَا فَقَدْ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ

When you see the night falling from this side, then a fasting person should break his fast.
[Sahih Bukhari]

Allah’s Messenger (Peace be Upon Him) said:

لَا يَزَالُ النَّاسُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا عَجَّلُوا الْفِطْرَ

The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast.
[Sahih Bukhari]

Breaking the fast as soon as the sun sets is the sign of the believers. Those who wait until the stars to start glow, their act has been regarded as emptied of blessings by the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).

The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said:

لَا يَزَالُ الدِّينُ ظَاهِرًا مَا عَجَّلَ النَّاسُ الْفِطْرَ لِأَنَّ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى يُؤَخِّرُونَ

Religion will continue to prevail as long as people hasten to break the fast, because the Jews and the Christians delay doing so.
[Sahih Ibne Khuzaima]

When the sun got set, Sayyidina Umer (may Allah be pleased with him) gave a vessel to the person nearby him and said: Drink! Then said: May be you are amongst those self-willed/perverse (who delay breaking fast) who says: after a while, after a while.

Ibrahim Nakh’I states: Breaking the fast soon is from the sunnah.
[Mussannif Ibne Abi Shiba]

Sayyidina Umer (may Allah be pleased with him) used to write an order and sends to his noblemen that do not become amongst the self-willed/preserve in regard of breaking fast and do not wait to offer prayers for until the stars get together.
[Mussannif Ibne Abi Shiba]

However if we keep our own invented scrupulous as compared to the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) then there is no status for that type of scrupulous, because the real scrupulous is in following the way of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) which is to break fast soon and without any delay.
