Make plenty of time for Allah this Ramadan

43356Allah (Glory be to Him) explains in the Quran that people are busy competing with each other in piling up worldly things, until they reach the graves[1]. He (glory be to Him) also says that people will come to know when they see the hellfire for themselves and are asked about every luxury and delight that they enjoyed in the life of this world[2]. In …another part of the Quran Allah (The Most high) asks ‘Oh Mankind, what has made you forget your Lord the Most Generous?[3]’

It is not difficult to see how busy most people’s lives are, especially in the western world and especially in our modern time. In many families both partners are working and indeed this is the direction families are being pushed in by western governments. Despite the development of modern gadgets and technology such as mobile phones, internet shopping, twenty four hours opening supermarkets, educational TV channels, online learning and computer based Learn Quran Online services and other ‘time saving devices’, we still do not have much free time. For many Muslims around the world, it is a struggle to pray five times a day on time every day, let alone to pray in jama’ah in the masjid. Many workplaces, hospitals, stations and airports do have prayer facilities these days; more and more mosques are being built around the world. All this makes it easier and quicker for us to fulfil our daily obligatory acts of worship. Read the rest of this entry

Biological Evolution – An Islamic Perspective

993052_471914089560393_850894704_n

Many Muslims wonder about the theory of biological evolution – the theory that living species on Earth today are descended from others in the past, and that the present diversity of living species we see is a result of descent with modifica…tion over the course of numerous generations.

Muslims also wonder about one of the main processes that evolutionary theory proposes to explain how evolution takes place – the process of natural selection. This is the idea that the individuals within a populations of living organism vary in their individual traits – they are not exactly alike – and that the organisms which are most successful at leaving descendants will pass on their unique traits to the next generation at the expense of the traits possessed by less successful organisms in the population, thereby contributing to a long-term gradual change in the suite of traits found within the population.

We as Muslims must ask:  Read the rest of this entry

Is the Religion True or False?

Islaam
If we would like to know whether a religion is true or false, we should not depend on our emotions, feelings, or traditions. Rather, we should depend on our reason and intellect. When God sent the prophets, He supported them with miracles and evidences which proved that they were truly prophets send by God and that the religion they came with was true.

The true religion can be found by answering three questions: Read the rest of this entry

A beautiful advice to the people of this world

Alluring to people is the love of women and sons, and mountains of gold and silver and fine horses and cattle and land. These are the glamours of the life of this world. The hereafter is best in ALLAH’s sight. Should I tell you about something which is better than these things? For those who believe and do right, there wil…l be for them gardens of paradise, beneath which rivers will flow. I give you the good news of being there.

ALLAH has made a trade with the believers that in return for their wealth and their own selves, He will give them a home in His paradise, gardens of happiness beneath which rivers flow, to stay in there forever. A repayment from their Lord, for their good deeds. They will have therein pure friends, and ALLAH will make them enter cool shades. The promise of ALLAH is true, and whose word can be truer than ALLAH’s? Read the rest of this entry

Discussing Religion with the People of the Scripture

Engaging the Jews and Christians in meaningful dialogue is something that we need to do. Those who wish to participate in this activity, however, should observe some general guidelines:
1. Any attempt at dialogue must be able to practically address what Islam is, explain its principles and issues properly, and demonst…rate clearly Islam’s position on Judaism and Christianity. It must be able to do so in a scholarly manner, making reference to the Qur’ân and Sunnah. It should be able to show the difference between what Islam teaches about how Muslims should relate to the Jews and Christians and what is actually going on in Muslim society. (O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint.) (Al-Baqarah 2:183)

(O ye who believe! fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.) (Aal `Imran 3:102)

“Every deed of the child of Adam is for him except fasting; it is for Me and I shall reward it. Th…e (bad) breath of the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasing to Allah than the perfume of musk.” (Al-Bukhari) Read the rest of this entry

Do I confess?

942647_476899735728495_1630705552_nSomeone may ask: I would like to repent but is it necessary for me to confess to someone and declare my sins before him? Is it a condition of repentance that I should go to a Qadi in the court, recount all my crimes and seek to be punished? and what else the stories of Ma’iz, the Ghamedi woman, and the man who kissed a girl in a garden suggest?
