His desires as his god?

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

أَرَءَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَـهَهُ هَوَاهُ
Have you seen him who takes his low desires for his god? [Surat al-Jathiyah, 45:23 and Surat Al-Furqan, 77:43]
At these two places in the Qur’an ALL…AH SWT, Has drawn our attention to a very important matter.
The point to remember here is that if any desires, that become more important to fulfill in one’s life and they hinder in obeying what ALLAH has commanded, then it is like making these desires equal to ALLAH. It is ALLAH’s Right to be obeyed and worshipped alone, because He is the Lord of His Creation. Ignoring and not giving the due standing to the Orders of ALLAH and placing what one wishes, above it, is like making partners with ALLAH.

This ayah maybe pointing towards you if you;
– Wake up till late at night and love to watch a movie or chat with a friend and do not get up for Fajr prayer.
– Wish to improve your living standard by getting perks by any means and ignore the standard of Halal and Haram.
– Desire to be a part of a so called modern society and overlook the norms set by Islam by freely mixing with opposite gender for fun and disregard the bounds of Mahrem and non Mahrem.
– Aspire to be noticed by all in an eye catching, revealing or tight fitted dress and make-up and close your eyes to the standard of modesty and hijab in Islam.

These are only a few examples to mention… and for those, who want to disassociate themselves from the repercussions of this ayah, should continue with this list and note down the wishes, lusts and vain desires that hinder in giving ALLAH His due right to be Obeyed, and make an effort to get rid of them by submitting to ALLAH and make oneself eligible to be forgiven by ALLAH.

ALLAH says:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ
Verily, ALLÂH forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills; [An-Nisa: 67]
